With crisp, precise passing on offense to set up open shots and stifling team defense, the Lady Rams played with heart, desire and skill during their drive to the title – defeating four teams by a total of 127 points.

All during their run to the school’s 10th state title, the players on the team had a great chemistry and a sense of destiny, starting off with a 74-26 win over Koinonia and a 72-29 rout over Wildwood Catholic.

Next, Gloucester Catholic won the South Jersey Non-Public B title on March 9 with a 44-31 victory over Rutgers Prep. Leading the way were Senior Jahzara Green with 14 points, and Jalyn Moore and Amanda Eggers both scoring 11 points.

During the state title game, the Lady Rams jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter and outscored Gill St. Bernard’s by 17 points in the final quarter in an amazing display of team basketball.

Green played an outstanding game, scoring 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Talia Shumate scored 14 points, Eggers had 13 points and Moore added 10 points. Sophomore point guard Monet High directed the offense with precision and dished out six assists.

“Congratulations to the Gloucester Catholic basketball team, Coach Lisa Angelotti Gedaka and her staff,” longtime educator Joe Gorman said. “The Lady Rams are state champions. Awesome season.”

The last time Gloucester Catholic won the state championship was in 1983 when Lisa Angelotti was a star player. She also was on state title teams in ’82 and 81, capping off an era when the Lady Rams were considered New Jersey’s first girls basketball dynasty, winning nine championships in 11 years.

She recognized as one of the best players in South Jersey history, scoring a program-record 2,035 points. At Villanova University Angelotti scored 1,622 points career points and later had her jersey retired.

This year, she and her assistants did an amazing job coaching the team. The 2026 Lady Rams finished the season with a 26-4 record, and also won the Tri County Royal Division Championship.

The players on this tremendous Lady Rams team are Adrienne Abalos, Peyton Ferry, Yazaniah Shumate, Jahzara Green, Ruth Cutuli, Monet High, Jayla McFadden, Talia Shumate, Ashlynn Eggers, Elizabeth Burgo, Muffin Bethea, Jayln Moore, Amanda Eggers, Adrianna Paglione and Sloane Hunter.
