Enthusiasts of fast cars, cute pups, and adorable kittens will love an upcoming car show created to find new homes for pets at the Burlington County Animal Shelter.
The 3rd Annual Motors for Mutts Open House and Car Show will be held Saturday, November 7, from noon to 4 p.m. at both the Burlington County Animal Shelter (35 Academy Drive) and the parking lot of the Burlington County Institute of Technology-Westampton Campus (695 Woodlane Road, Westampton). Dozens of cars, trucks, and motorcycles of all sizes, styles, and ages will be displayed during the event, which will also include music, food, and information tables.
This year marks the first time the BCIT parking lot is being used. Organizers said the addition will allow for more vehicles to participate.
Attendees will also get to meet many of the shelter dogs and cats that are available for adoption or foster. Admission to the car show is free and all adoption fees will be waived during the event.
“Motors for Mutts is a special event that combines love of cars and motorcycles with love for animals and their welfare,” said Burlington County Commissioner Randy Brolo, liaison to the animal shelter and the County Health Department. “Every year this show grows larger and better, so we’re hoping for a great turnout and lots of adoptions.”
Among the available pets is Lola, a young pit bull terrier that was surrendered to the shelter in July 2025. Shelter staff say she is very smart, energetic, and eager to please. They hope someone who attends the car show will adopt or foster her.
“Our shelter staff and volunteers do an outstanding job caring for available pets and connecting them with loving families, but events like this one provide an opportunity for additional people to visit the shelter to hopefully give some overlooked animals a chance,” added Burlington County Commissioner Tyler Burrell. “Even if you’re not looking for a pet, you can still help the shelter by sharing photos of adoptable animals with family and friends. Every dog or cat we help find a loving home is a win, so please come out and help motor our shelter to its best adoption year yet.”
The car show and open house is being organized by Burington County Animal Shelter staff to raise awareness about the shelter’s mission and to connect adoptable pets with new loving families. More than 90 vehicles participated in the show, and 15 dogs and cats were adopted during last year’s events.
There is no entry fee for car show participants and prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories, including “Top Dog” (Best of Show), “Biggest Bark” (Best Engine), “Shiniest Coat” (Best Paint), “Shelter’s Choice”, and more.Participating vehicles will be judged by a team from the Gas Guzzlers car club, along with County officials. Vehicle owners interested in entering their vehicle into the car show can register in advance using this online form.
Residents can learn more about the adoptable pets at the shelter at https://www.
Not sure you’re ready for a pet? Fostering is a great option for individuals and families that want to help the shelter’s animals without committing to adoption. Residents can also volunteer at the shelter or collect needed items.
