From the Archive: “Theater of Plants.” Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences. 307 High St., Mount Holly. Dating to 1640, “Theater of Plants” provides a glimpse at plant species from around the world, a few of which can still be found in Burlington County, along with thousands of detailed woodcut prints. Join Museum Curator of History Marisa Bozarth as she shares how such a rare book was researched, written and published, how it was used to study the Americas and the many individuals who utilized it along the way. This program requires registration. FRIDAY, June 13

Friday Forum: Dragonflies and more. Amico Island Park. 81 Norman Ave., Delran. Participants will look for a variety of dragonfly, damselfly and butterfly species in this park. This program requires registration. For more information, visit the website for Burlington County.

Friday Film. The Moorestown Library will show a screening of “42: The Jackie Robinson Story” at 2 p.m. in honor of Juneteenth.

Burlington County Senior Art and Teen Arts Exhibit. Smithville Mansion Annex Gallery. 803 Smithville Road, Mount Holly. Enjoy art created by the county’s seniors ages 60 and older along with artwork made by Burlington County middle and high school students. Gallery hours are from noon to 4 p.m.

Exhibit: Trail and Camera: Photographer Ben Panter. Warden’s House Gallery. 150 High St., Mount Holly. Panter’s photographs are an interpretation of his experiences and emotions while hiking in nature. Through these images, he prolongs memories to share them with the viewer, pulling them into the same sense of wonder. Exhibit hours are from noon to 4 p.m.

Barn to Bay: Art of the Penevs. Worker’s House and Gallery. 803 Smithville Road, Mount Holly. Angelina and Plamen Penev both paint in pastels and oils, often in plein air and alla prima. Their works highlight pieces created on the grounds of several county parks, including the Dogs of Smithville Park, at local farms, at the Burlington County Farm Fair and at their favorite spots along the Jersey Shore. 

SATURDAY, June 14

Hora de Cuentos: Bilingual Story Time. This program is for children ages 3 and up and will feature stories and songs in Spanish and English. This program will be held at 10 a.m.

Make a Poster for the 4th of July Parade Poster Contest. Moorestown Library. This program is for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Materials including paper and markers will be provided. This program will be held at 10 a.m.

Photography Workshop: Phytograms. Worker’s House and Gallery. 803 Smithville Road, Mount Holly. In this eco-friendly workshop, students will make plant- based developers from plant materials found in nature. Using additional foraged plant materials sourced from the property, students will compose and expose directly onto photographic film using the sunlight or ultraviolet light. Muslims of South Jersey will host a festival for Eid Al-Adha, one of two occasions of celebration that Muslims mark each year, at Laurel Acres Park at 1045 South Church St. in Mount Laurel from 2 to 7 p.m. The event will include carnival activities, a petting zoo, cultural performances, food, a bazaar and more. A rain date for Saturday, June 21, is scheduled.

Moorestown Library at the Summer Lawn Chair Concert at Perkins. The Moorestown Library’s Ms. Ashley and Ms. Jen will host a storytelling event on the lawn of the Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown at 6:30 p.m. This program will be held before Perkins’ Lawn Chair concert featuring Songs by Dishong at 7:15 p.m.

JFCS presents Anti-LGBTQ Legislation – What’s Coming Our Way. Moorestown Library. This workshop will break down the fast-moving legal and social changes the government is enacting against LGBTQ individuals and communities, discuss what’s possibly coming next, and give participants tools to support the LGBTQ community. The Shot Heard Around the World. Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences. In April 1775, the people of Massachusetts decided a show of force was long overdue. After several years of British soldiers occupying Boston, they decided enough is enough, and the legend of the “Minute Men” was born. Men from miles around answered the call and trekked off to Lexington and Concord to face off against the British regulars. Pollinator Patch Discovery. Crystal Lake Park. 2401 Axe Factory Road, Mansfield. Join Naturalists Jen and Gina for a close look at the brand-new pollinator patch. The plants in this patch are a mix of planted perennials and wildflower seeds that were sown in the fall. Learn about the plants and why they were selected. Examine the pollinator species visiting them and inspect the adjacent milkweed blooms on the field edge. This program requires registration.
