“When you’re there, you can see everybody having a good time, and you can truly see what you and everybody that has been involved with (the Interact Club) has done,” said club junior chair and organizer Everett CaseySuess, who’s also a member of the event’s advertising committee.

“I think that’s really cool how you can see the effect that you’ve had on the community.”

Soup for the Soul is one of the club’s biggest events and fully student-run. Tickets include a buffet-style meal with all-you-can-eat soup and bread donated by local restaurants. There will also be live music, a silent auction and raffles.

Tickets will be sold at the door at $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. With a $10 takeout option, guests get a container of their favorite soup, as well as two pieces of bread. This year, Interact has a donation goal of $5,000.

“It brings the community together more,” CaseySuess explained of Soup for the Soul. “(People) donate to a good cause, which is the most important thing … It’s a great time and you can see so many smiles on people’s faces every year, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to be a part of that every year.”

The Interact Club is dedicated to serving the community and sponsored by Rotary International, a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change. Since its inception, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy and intelligence to act on sustainable projects.

CaseySuess, a junior at Moorestown High, Joined Interact in his freshman year. When he learned about the club, he thought it was a great opportunity for him to get easily involved with community service, something he’s always wanted to do. From Interact, he founded Soup for the Soul.

“Interact is, I would say, one of the best clubs at Moorestown High School,” CaseySuess noted, “because every week, the president of the club and the vice president show you what you can volunteer for, and it’s so easy for you to get involved with the community if you’re a part of this club.

“You can come to this event, and you can donate to a good cause,” he added of Soup for the Soul. ” … And help feed the hungry in our area … And you can enjoy soup and bread, and it’s a great time.”
