A 34-year-old officer at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center has been charged in the fatal hit and run of a 75-year-old woman and her dog on Jan. 17, according to Lt. Andrew McNeil of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

The township police department responded to the area of Evesham Road and Alpha Avenue at about 6:05 p.m. and found that a motor vehicle believed to have hit the woman had left the scene. A resident of Cherry Hill, she was transported to an area hospital and died later that evening. Her animal died at the scene, McNeil said.
