Gloucester Township police are asking the public’s help in identifying a supposed food delivery driver who allegedly stole cash from an Applebee’s restaurant in late March.
The male suspect arrived at the Applebee’s in Sicklerville at about 10 p.m., according to police, allegedly claiming he was there to pick up a customer’s food order. At the same time, a restaurant employee briefly placed $101 in cash on a nearby table.
After collecting the food, the driver returned and falsely claimed the order was incomplete. While the employee went into the kitchen to investigate his claim, according to surveillance footage, the suspect allegedly seized the unattended cash and quickly fled in an unidentified vehicle.
The food delivery company identified the suspect only by his first name, David, but has not cooperated further with the ongoing investigation, according to police. The township has released surveillance footage of the crime for residents and other potential witnesses.
