The township’s parks and recreation department will host its free annual Easter egg hunts at Owens Park on Saturday, March 21, with a rain date set on the following Saturday.

There will be two hunts, the first for children with disabilities at 11 a.m. on the park’s pickleball court. The second is the main hunt, which will be split by age groups to keep things organized.

According to parks and recreation supervisor Tiffany Carney, the department is hoping for anywhere between 1,500 to 2,000 attendees.

“It’s pure joy and fun,” she said. “It’s a lighthearted day that when people come out, they’re going to have a good time. Parks and recreation put this on for our town and they work hard to make sure this accessible and fun for all.”

About 11,000 Easter eggs will be used during the event, according to Carney. The hunts will feature a mix of prizes such as candy and, for kids who can’t eat sweets, toys.

Families will have to bring their own collections baskets. Parents and guardians are asked to watch and supervise their children during the hunts.

The Easter event will also feature activities such as face painting and a picture with the Easter bunny. Registration is encouraged though not required at the parks and recreation website, so the department can get a head count.

Anyone with questions or who wants to sponsor a hunt, or other information, can reach out to Carney by calling (856) 728-1372.

“We try to keep things at a free and affordable cost for our residents,” Carney said. “It’s a great thing for the children to come out and have a kid time. Parents and grandparents can laugh, smile, have a good time and forget about their troubles for the day.”
