Two area high-school seniors – Shannon Klein and Mia Pezzato – have been awarded the Sanderson Memorial Scholarship through Jefferson Health.

The annual award is worth $1,000 and goes to two eligible, dependent children of regular full- or part-time hospital employees in New Jersey with at least one year of service. The scholarship is named for Sarah Sanderson, a journalist and member of the former Kennedy Hospital board who bequeathed funds to promote the continuation of health education among promising young students.

She also is secretary of the school art club, treasurer of its Hispanic Heritage Club and a member of the National Honor Society.

Pezzato will also attend Rowan University in the fall to major in biology. She has played lacrosse for Williamstown High School and was named to First Team All-Conference in both 2024 and 2025. She also plays basketball and received the Coaches Award for 2025. Pezzato has maintained straight A’s throughout high school and has made honor roll every semester.
