The Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO) will hold its 29th Annual Woofstock Festival on
Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Voorhees Town Center (rain or shine).  It is
the biggest fundraising event of the year for the Animal Orphanage. This year, Auto Lenders is
the Platinum Sponsor for the event.

Woofstock is a day-long, outdoor festival that celebrates community and pets. It is a family
friendly, fun-filled day with something for everyone, even your four-legged furry friends.  You
can shop among many different local vendors. The last Woofstock had over 125 artisan, craft,
retail and informational booths. There will be gourmet food trucks, animal rescue groups
(many with adoptable animals), a kids corner and a gigantic gift basket raffle pavilion. It is a
day where your well-behaved pets are more than welcome to attend and stroll the festival site
with you. Enjoy music by Red Sky, dog demonstrations, a beer garden by Tonewood Brewing,
a humongous gift basket raffle pavilion, the ever-popular VAO Alumni Parade led by
Hegeman String Band and much more! Admission is a $2 donation. Children under 5 are
admitted free.

The Voorhees Animal Orphanage (“VAO”) is a non-profit Municipal Animal
Shelter dedicated to providing housing, food and medical care to stray and unwanted animals
until permanent homes can be found. It is an open-intake animal shelter serving 26
municipalities in Southern New Jersey, 22 of which are in Camden County. The only income it
receives are the monthly fees from the municipalities that it serves and adoption fees.
Otherwise, it relies very heavily on the generosity of charitable donations to help meet its
budget.

The VAO is also an Adoption Center. That means when space allows, it can rescue cats and
dogs from overcrowded, high-kill shelters. The VAO works with local, regional and national
shelters and rescue groups, saving lives wherever and whenever it can.  In 2024, the VAO
saved the lives of over 2,360 cats and dogs that made their way to the shelter. The VAO has
saved over 42,000 lives since its inception in 1988.

The VAO does not discriminate against any breed, nor does it turn any animal away due to
medical conditions or age.  Each animal in the shelter receives individual consideration and
attention, regardless of the number of animals in their care.
The VAO strives to be an exemplary shelter and adoption center through collaborative
partnerships, responsible business practices and exceptional customer service.
