A cool, summer breeze filled the air at John Connolly Park on Thursday, June 25th, and no, not one from Seals & Crofts. Voorhees Township kicked off its Summer Concert Series with Gilligan’s Yacht Rock. The Southeastern PA-based band specializes in the smooth sounds and timeless hits of the 70s and 80s. With reference to the main cast of ‘Gilligan’s Island’, the band members donned their sailing gear and referred to each other as ‘The Professor’, ‘Ginger’, and other members of the show.

Crowds of all ages filled the green space for the 7 p.m. free event. Whether guests sat in their lawn chairs or danced in the grass, the sounds of Toto’s ‘Africa’ and Rupert Holmes’s ‘Escape’ allowed everyone to embrace a simple fact: summer 2026 is officially here.

The township allows guests to bring their own food items, but pets, alcohol, smoking, and vaping are not permitted. The dog park is closed for the duration of the concert series. Dooney’s Pub was on-site selling beer, wine, and ‘crush’ cocktails. Attendees were also allowed to purchase food items for a variety of vendors, including Three Little Birds Café, Chick-Fil-A, Savory Sweets, and Heavenly Shakes.

This year’s concert series is made possible by a variety of local sponsors, including Archer & Greiner PC, Saddlehill, Bowman & Company, Environmental Resolutions, Conner Strong & Buckelew, Columbia Bank, and The Bank of Princeton.

If you were unable to attend the June 25th concert, there are two more planned for the remainder of the summer.

The next concert will be on July 23rd with musical guest Stealing Savannah, a band covering rock anthems, modern pop hits, hip-hop, country and timeless classics. The final concert will be on August 20 with The FM Band, who covers a variety of popular hits as well. All Summer Concert Series events begin at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chair or blanket. Food and drink options will be available at future events.
