On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at approximately 3:53 p.m., officers from the Cherry Hill Police Department responded to the Liberty Bell Plaza, located at 2083 Route 70 East in Cherry Hill, in reference to a person shot in a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located a victim – a 61-year-old male – suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

During the investigation, detectives learned the victim had been shot by a suspect – later determined to be Roberts – who was driving a vehicle that had pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle in the parking lot. Detectives utilized surveillance video footage to track the suspect’s
vehicle to his residence. A subsequent search of his residence on Thursday, April 16, 2026, led to the seizure of multiple firearms.

Roberts was taken into custody in Cherry Hill on April 16, 2026, and charged later that evening. He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.

“The quick response, diligent police work, and our effective technology investments proved invaluable as we were able to identify and take this offender into custody without further incident,” said Chief Ostermueller.

“We would like to thank the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office for their continued partnership in supporting our mission of protecting the residents of Cherry Hill.”
