The day celebrates Peyton and Terrenny Robinson, co-authors of the “Peyton the Great” children’s book series and founders of the Peyton the Great Literacy Dreams initiative, a program committed to improving literacy rates and inspiring a love for reading among children and families.

At just 6 years old, Peyton is already an author, as well as a dreamer and an example of creativity in action. Born and raised in New Jersey, she is described as an adventurous child with a vivid imagination. She’s also a daughter and little sister who enjoys Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and a good story.

Her debut title, “Peyton the Great and the Pink Gloves,” is the first in a series co-written with Terrenny, a mother of four, marketing major with a background in financial services and business development, entrepreneur and coach.

She has long emphisized quality time with her family and nurturing her children’s growth. “Peyton the Great and the Pink Gloves” is the first book she has co-authored with her youngest daughter – and it has a powerful purpose: to address the critical fact that two-thirds of students in the U.S. are not reading at a proficient level by promoting early literacy and a lifelong love of reading.

Through their Literacy Dreams Event Series, the Robinsons are creating quarterly literacy-focused experiences featuring engaging stories, interactive activities and valuable resources for children and their families. The goal is to make reading enjoyable and transformative while instilling essential values like diversity, empowerment, resilience and dreaming big.

Mayer was inspired to support the initiative after being contacted directly by Terrenny.

“She shared the book series with me, and I saw how it used storytelling to teach life lessons and make reading fun,” he explained. “We want to make reading essential – and joyful – for everyone in the community.”
