Delran VFW Post 3020 is very committed to helping local veterans, and on Oct. 14, the post hosted the Veterans Appreciation Dinner, coordinated by State Senator Troy Singleton (D-7) and “Feeding Our Heroes” creator Mike Giunta, a firefighter from Newark.

Giunta has been creating meals and working with leaders in New Jersey to feed veterans free of charge in appreciation of their service to the nation, and Singleton contacted local elected officials to arrange welcoming about 100 veterans to the post home for a delicious meal.

Post Commander Bill Barats made certain that the post was well-prepared for the event. Helping Sen. Singleton to serve dinner were state legislators Carol Murphy and Balvir Singh, County Commissioner Randy Brolo, Delran Councilwoman Nikki Appeadu and Council President Lynn Jeney, amongst other volunteers.

Dinner included cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, and of course cake and beverages. Seconds were enjoyed by many and take-home dinners were distributed.
