The Palmyra School District is seeking public input for its next strategic plan for the years 2026 to 2031.
“As we approach the end of our 2021-2026 strategic plan, we take pride in the measurable progress and shared accomplishments achieved across all goal areas,” the district posted on its website. “This review highlights key data points as we prepare to launch our next strategic plan.”
The district is inviting students, families, staff and other community members to share reflections on the current plan and help define the priorities that will guide the district’s goals, programs and resources. The current strategic plan includes pursuit of equity, continuous improvement in student learning, community ties and student experience, sound stewardship and planning.
Wins included meeting New Jersey Department of Education annual proficiency targets in English Language Arts (ELA), including African American and economically disadvantaged students. ELA proficiency increased from 37% to 40.4%, while chronic absenteeism declined from 19.2% to 15.1%, showing stronger student re-engagement. Enrollment increased from 984 to 1,041 students from 2021-’22.
Capital projects underway include a new track, auditorium and Delaware Avenue Preschool expansion. The district earned the Lighthouse Award for districts that have demonstrated measurable progress with diverse groups of learners, and also won Bronze in Sustainable Schools status.
The district has posted the strategic plan for 2016-2021 and 2021-2026 for the public to explore as they respond to the survey on the district website at www.palmyraschools.com. All responses are confidential, and results will be shared only in summary form.
