Guilty plea in sex assault of minor

A 60-year-old Mullica Hill man pleaded guilty on July 9 to the sexual assault of a minor three years ago, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns has announced.  

According to documents filed in the case and court statements, it was reported on April 12, 2023 that Luis Joaquin-Nunez had sexually assaulted the minor at a township residence. He was subsequently charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a minor, second-degree sexual assault of a minor and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the plea deal, Joaquin-Nunez will be sentenced on Oct. 9 to 15 years in state prison with no possibility of parole. Upon release, he will be subject to lifetime parole supervision, must register as a sex offender and must have no contact with the victim. 

Johns credited the Harrison Township Police Department for its help in the case.
