A Facebook post by the borough department acknowledged that Baselice served on the force for more than a decade, from March 2001 until March 2014. It also noted that his superiors received no complaints or reports of any wrongdoing, nor did officials in the school district, where Baselice served for four years as an SRO (School Resource Officer).

According to the prosecutor, Baselice was arrested on July 7 at the Maple Shade Police Department and is now at the Burlington County Jail pending a detention hearing in Superior Court that has yet to be scheduled.

According to a press release, police became involved in the case after the abuse was reported by acquaintances of the victim, whose age has not been revealed. Baselice allegedly purchased an electric scooter and cell phone for the victim, among other items, and provided her with his credit card number so she could order food.

The release noted that additional details were withheld by the prosecutor’s office to protect the victim’s identity.

Anyone with information on the case can call the prosecutor’s office at (609) 265-5035 and speak to a detective in the Special Victims Unit, or send an email to tips@co.burlington.nj.us. Neither the prosecutor’s office nor Haddonfield police responded to a request for comment.
