“People love to talk about their cars, they love to talk about their cars with each other, they love to talk about their cars with people who don’t know (about) them or have electric vehicles and they’re open to talking about their experiences,” said Sustainable Moorestown board member Chris Bojarski of the EV fest.

Sustainable Moorestown will hold its second EV (electric vehicles) fest at the Moorestown Municipal Complex on Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is designed to display the future of electrified transportation. EVs of all types and brands will be on display, both by private owners and local dealers and residents will have an opportunity to learn about ownership and how to skip high prices at the pump.

The EV fest will also promote more sustainable transportation around town, said board member Chris Bojarski, who joined Sustainable Moorestown in 2024.

“If you’re going to have a car, it could be something that doesn’t necessarily pollute as much or doesn’t require much energy,” Bojarski explained. “The idea is to be able to say, ‘You can learn about what the experience is like.’ A lot of people might not be as vastly familiar (with electric vehicles), so it’s our opportunity to talk to people.”

Something that Sustainable Moorestown noticed at the first EV fest was how residents really engaged with owners and posed questions about the EV lifestyle and what their experience has been, good or bad, Bojarski added.

“Everyone was excited to be there, and we had a lot of people come and check out the vehicles, check out what we had going on, so it was nice to see people show interest,” he noted. “A lot of the owners got to meet each other, and they got to talk about their shared experiences, so it was a really nice and festive environment to enjoy.”

The first EV Fest had about six electric vehicles from local dealers and about a dozen from local owners, with a variety of pickup trucks, cars and SUVs. The EV community is just that – a community, according to Bojarski, who owns an electric Ford Mustang. While the Moorestown event does have a green aspect, it will be more heavily based on the EV experience.

“People love to talk about their cars,” Bojarski explained. “They love to talk about their cars with each other, they love to talk about their cars with people who don’t know (about) them or have electric vehicles, and they’re open to talking about their experiences. It (the fest) is a great chance to bring people together and show people what the experience is like.”

The benefits of owning an EV include cleanliness (no fumes), low maintenance (no oil change), avoiding the pump and the convenience of charging a vehicle right at home, Bojarski noted. There are three main levels of EV charging, with each level offering different speeds, equipment needs and use cases.

“It’s such a friendly crowd and it’s great to come out and meet people,” Bojarski observed of the EV fest, “(to) talk about your experience and what you’ve done with your car and how it’s been … I think it’s great for people to come out and have that, and it’s an opportunity to talk to people who maybe aren’t sure but are certainly open to exploring and understanding …”
