Homegrown Moorestown’s Santa stroll returned on Dec. 21, with proceeds from the event supporting the Main Street beauty that’s known to locals as the Community House of Moorestown.
“At its core, it (the Santa stroll) was founded to help support the community house,” explained Homegrown Moorestown co-founder Celie Coleman, “and we’re returning this year with a goal to be able to provide an even bigger donation because they (the community center) share such a core value of ours, of a community meeting place and gathering.”
Participants strolled or ran for one or three miles through town with friends and family and wore their best holiday attire like Santa costumes and hats, reindeer and snowman outfits. Guests gathered at the Community House afterwards as a cheery way to recap the morning and afternoon with festive music, refreshments and vendors.
This year’s sponsors were Keating Law Firm, Wright Choice Therapy and Pleasant Valley Dentistry.
“It’s a fun time to come together right before the holiday,” said another Homegrown Moorestown co-founder, Gretchen Simmerson. “It’s the hope that the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas is kind of over, and now you can just start to relax and enjoy Christmas.”
Homegrown Moorestown is a nonprofit whose mission is to promote community growth, support local initiatives and foster a stronger connection in the township, as well as to provide a platform that enhances the experience in town and instills a sense of pride in being part of it.

“Although we’re not the community house we also are a nonprofit,” Coleman said of the Santa stroll, “so if we can help support that vision and make sure that the (house) stays here in Moorestown, then we’ll do that.”
