The Mustard Seed Cooperative Garden at First Presbyterian Church donates the food it produces to two township food ministries.

The Mustard Seed Cooperative Garden at First Presbyterian Church serves the Moorestown community by growing fresh produce and donating it to the needy.

Located at the church, the garden produced about 650 pounds of vegetables and berries during the 2024 growing season – March through October – and donated all of it to two food distribution ministries in the township.

The garden is seeking a paid intern for this year’s growing season, with most of the work completed between June 15 and Aug. 31. The individual will work five hours a week and learn how the garden is managed. Duties include the harvesting and weighing of produce, weeding and watering of the garden, maintaining compost and attending periodic garden committee meetings.

The intern will be trained and supervised by a garden coordinator. Hours will primarily be in the early evening on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday, plus a few hours on Monday, Thursday and Saturday to help deliver donated food. He or she must be reliable and able to communicate with the coordinator, responding to texts and/or email messages within 24 hours.

Prior work experience includes yard work for neighbors, babysitting and similar informal jobs; gardening experience is not required. Applicants must be at least 14 and there is no maximum age limit. Pay is $17 per hour for a total of 62 paid work hours.

Interested candidates can contact Leslie Spencer at spencer@rowan.edu or call (215) 584-7659. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
