The Presbyterian Women of Moorestown’s First Presbyterian Church will hold a free holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, with donations accepted to benefit the former’s local ministries for women and children in acute need.
“We’ll have a baked (goods) table,” said Edith McFalls, moderator of Presbyterian Women. “We’ll have a knitting table. We’ll have a holiday table where they’ll have Christmas and Thanksgiving decorations, and then we’ll have what they call a treasures table, where they’re going to have different household items, like vases and different types of dishes.”
The Presbyterian Women seek gently used jewelry and accessories (scarves, belts, purses, umbrellas and gloves), new and nearly-new treasures (household goods, kitchen items, sporting goods, accessories, jewelry, gift items and more), baked goods (cookies, brownies, cupcakes and gluten-free treats) and holiday and seasonal decor.
Donation boxes are in the Commons Lobby of the church, as are sign-up sheets for those who would like to help with the event.
Among ministries of the Presbyterian Women are Dawn’s Place, for women rescued from sex trafficking; Good Counsel Home for pregnant and homeless women; and Providence House, for women escaping domestic violence. Last year’s bazaar raised more than $2,600. The women’s group also supports an organization called Little Children of the World, whose mission is to develop Christian communities for children at risk around the world.
Through that organization, the Presbyterian Women support Hesekiel Agbon, a 9-year-old boy from the Philippines, providing for his Christian education and his family’s medical coverage.
Women who are members of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. are considered part of the township’s Presbyterian Women, and all females in the community who support the purpose of their missions are encouraged to participate in activities whether or not they are members of Moorestown’s First Presbyterian Church, belong to another church or are without a church home.
The Presbyterian Women have four circles considered small-group Bible studies that meet on different days, at different times, once a month.
