To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Evesham Township hosted a car show for car enthusiasts, families and history lovers at The Promenade at Sagemore in Marlton earlier this month.

Hosted in partnership with the township and the Evesham Historical Society, the patriotic community celebration featured an impressive collection of classic, antique, muscle, exotic and specialty vehicles, along with live entertainment, inflatables, a life-sized liberty bell, a petting zoo, family-friendly activities, food and local vendors.

“This event is about much more than cars,” said Aaron Freyer, general manager of The Promenade at Sagemore, who also runs the shopping destination’s social events. “It’s an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate 250 years of American history and enjoy an unforgettable day with family, friends and fellow enthusiasts.”

Visitors strolled through dozens of exceptional vehicles, met their owners, enjoyed interactive exhibits and experienced an afternoon that brought together history, community and automotive passion. Whether it was a meticulously restored classic, a modern performance vehicle or a unique custom build, enthusiasts of all generations participated, displaying their cars, trucks, motorcycles and specialty vehicles. The car show was added to the event not only because it was possible to do so, but also because it’s something that Freyer and his team simply wanted to do.

Designed to honor America’s automotive heritage while celebrating the nation’s semi-quincentennial, the event also highlighted food, live music, family activities and opportunities for owners of noteworthy vehicles to participate. Freyer’s assistant, Jacob Perez, was happy to see the car show come to fruition after all the planning that went into it, but that wasn’t the only event he enjoyed seeing at The Promenade. The shopping destination’s touch-a-truck last year brought fire trucks, bulldozers, ambulances  and more to residents for them to see and touch. The Promenade worked with local organizations to make that happen and they did the same again this year for the car show.

“It’s something more for this event,” Perez said of the car show, “And that’s our goal now, with our events. Now that we have a model like we did with the touch-a-truck, which is very similar to this, we’re trying to fill it out more … I’m just looking forward to a good day of music and hopefully the weather stays good, and I think it will be a new event that hopefully we can keep doing with the township.”

Updated renovations to The Promenade’s center court include a new built-in sound system, Perez shared, allowing music to be played throughout the court for visitors to enjoy.

“When we have live music, sometimes people will just be sitting in the grass,” Perez noted. “That’s the goal because then they will be more likely to walk around and explore.”
