The Arc of Cumberland County is inviting individuals, families, businesses and community organizations to lace up their walking shoes and join in the celebration at its 22nd Annual Walkathon on Sunday, September 13.

The annual event brings the community together in support of The Arc of Cumberland County and its mission to assist individuals with disabilities in living normal, productive and happy lives while helping them achieve their personal goals through a wide range of programs, services, and opportunities.

This year’s Walkathon will also recognize John Asselta as the Honorary Chairperson. Asselta has been involved with The Arc of Cumberland County for more than 25 years and has participated in every Walkathon since its inception. He continues to serve on The Arc of Cumberland County’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, providing leadership and advocacy in support of the organization and the people it serves.

The Walkathon is more than just a walk—it is an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate inclusion and raise critical funds to support programs and services for individuals with disabilities and their families throughout southern New Jersey.

Walkers are encouraged to register individually or as part of a team and collect sponsorship donations in advance. Participants who raise a minimum of $20 per walker will receive a commemorative 2026 Walkathon T-shirt, while supplies last.

The Arc of Cumberland County extends its appreciation to the many sponsors, volunteers and community partners who make this annual tradition possible. The organization is proud to celebrate the continued support of local businesses, families and organizations that share its commitment to creating opportunities and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Community members are encouraged to gather their family, friends, coworkers and neighbors and form a team for this special day of fun, friendship and community spirit.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the Walkathon starts at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 13. Walkers should bring their completed registration forms and collected donations to the event. Donations by cash, check and PayPal are accepted.

For more information about the 22nd Annual Walkathon, or to register, form a team, become a sponsor or support The Arc of Cumberland County, community members are encouraged to contact The Arc of Cumberland County @ jteti@arccumberland.org.
