Haddonfield Memorial High School graduated 187 students on June 17.

A young boy could be heard shouting, “That’s my sister,” as Olivia McKenna, accepted her diploma. An older teen was equally boisterous when his sister, Addison Super, accepted her diploma.

The graduation featured speeches from students and staff, including Superintendent Charles Klaus, Principal Tammy McHale, senior class president Lauren Anton and two summa cum laude students.

Klaus congratulated the class for its achievements, including 85 National Honor Society members, 41 who earned a seal of bi-literacy and 12 commended National merit scholars.

Klaus compared the journey of the graduates to the two-faced Roman god Janus.

“One looks back, as we did this evening,” he said. “And one looks forward as we will later tonight. We celebrate the class of 2026’s accomplishments and their journeys to this point. Now, class of 2026, it’s time for you to embrace what lies ahead …

“Ancient Roman philosophy tells us that when you stand across from those like Janus, the only calibration that counts is how much heart people invest.”

In her speech, Anton emphasized the need for the graduates to stay connected to one another.

“The people sitting beside you tonight have been a part of your story,” she noted. “They witness your awkward freshman moments, celebrated your victories, supported you through disappointments and grew up alongside you.

“The friendships and memories you’ve built together don’t end when you leave the school,” Anton added. “They become part of the foundation you carry into the next chapter of your life.”
