The Recreation Advisory Committee had a successful 2025 season. This year, it’s proving to be even better.

Members presented what’s in store for the year during a township council meeting on April 14.

“We do about 10 events a year,” said chair Tina Buckley.

The committee is coming off a successful Easter egg hunt at Summer Hill on April 4. It is also in the midst of the 08075 Can Sing competition, which kicked off on April 13 with 21 finalists at the township restaurant At the Table II.

“We had a tremendous turnout,” Mayor Barnes Hutchins said of auditions at the high school on April 6. “This year’s show is definitely going to set the bar for years to come, and we’re excited to showcase the best of the best of our local stars.”

This year’s winner of 08075 Can Sing will perform a 30-minute set at the Delran Star Spangled Spectacular, a celebration of the country’s 250th birthday that will take place from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. The first-place winner also gets $500, second place gets $250 and third $100.

Last year saw a Community Engagement Day, an idea from Hutchins that brought together various organizations and clubs. Delran Night Out 2025 saw 8,000; it had something to do for every age – from the bands to the game trucks.

Other upcoming events include the spring yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, with a rain date the next day. A fall yard sale will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a rain date also the next day. The next fall festival will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, and a winter festival will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.

The Recreation Advisory Committee consists of Buckley as chair, Steve Grello as vice chair, Samantha Hutchins, Alexa Bogan, James Hatzold, Bob Kennedy, Chris Pullion, Michelle Lugo Montanez, Rachel Gray and Melissa Larkin as secretary.

The committee is always looking for new members and volunteers for its events. Meetings are held the second Thursday of the month. The next session will be held at 7 p.m. on April 23 in council chambers.
