A loving and resilient dog who spent an incredible 253 days at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter has found a permanent home.

The adoption story of Ramla is a testament to the tireless efforts of the shelter staff, volunteers and the broader community to find loving homes for more than 3,000 domestic animals each year.

“We are overjoyed to see Ramla begin the next chapter in a journey that highlights the importance of adoption and the impactful role of shelters in supporting animals and families alike,” said Frank DiMarco, director of the Gloucester County Board of Commissioners. “Her story inspires us to continue our mission of finding homes for every animal who comes through our doors.”

With 64 kennel runs along with its robust adoption program, the county shelter is committed to ensuring that every animal receives the care and attention needed before adoption. Under the direction of the commissioners, the Clayton facility has provided compassionate care and second chances for animals in need since its establishment 35 years ago.

Those who want to adopt from the shelter can visit to learn more about the process. The facility also provides low-cost spay/neuter services, educational programs and animal control services to the 24 municipalities in Gloucester County.
