Adelphia restaurant will host the International Women’s Day Dinner to raise money for women affected by the Kosovo War of 1998 and 1999.
Local entertainment company 3 Brothers Entertainment will host its first International Women’s Day Dinner at Adelphia restaurant at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.
The event is sponsored by 3 Brothers Entertainment and the Emina’s Hand Foundation, a nonprofit that provides aid to communities, families and women in need across the world. That includes females in the Republic of Kosovo, a country in southeastern Europe nestled between Serbia and Albania.
The founders of 3 Brothers – Leo, Jim and Pep Osmanollaj – are originally from Kosovo, also known by its former name, Kosova. They emigrated to the U.S. in 2000, following the Kosovo War of 1998 and 1999. Proceeds from the dinner will also benefit women who survived sexual violence during the conflict.
“We want to be able to support the woman of Kosova,” the trio explained in a statement. “Being here in the United States, where women have more help to get what they need to succeed, is vastly different to what they have in Kosova, and we want to be able to help the women have the same assistance.”
The founder of Emina’s Hand, Emina Cunmulaj-Nazarian, is of Albanian descent, as are many in Kosovo’s population.
“Our mission is to empower disadvantaged communities by providing access to essential resources such as food and shelter,” Emina’s Hand notes on its website. “We strive to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need and to create a world where all people have the opportunity to thrive.”
Nazarian will be a guest speaker at the dinner; also speaking will be Donika Kadaj Bujup, advisor to Kosovo’s president. The two will address their own personal journeys, how they got to where they are today and what they’re doing to help others in their country.
The dinner will also feature performances from Albanian musicians Alberije Hadergjonaj, Kristina Marku and Shqipe Kastrati.
Guests are required to reserve for the dinner by buying tickets online at eventexpo.net. The event is open to both kids and adults and a five-course dinner will be provided.
“Through the support of our donors, volunteers and partners,” says Emina’s Hand, “we are dedicated to improving the lives of those who are struggling and creating a more equitable society for all.”
