Delran will co-host Freedom Fest – A Star Spangled Spectacular with Cinnaminson and Palmyra – on Saturday.
To ensure a safe and family-friendly environment, strict safety measures will be enforced. All guests must enter through the main gate at Delran Community Park. Under no circumstances will entry be permitted through other pathways.
As a condition of admission, all guests will need to submit to a metal detector and/or wand screening prior to their entry. All guests must leave restricted items such as backpacks, pets, and face coverings (unless exceptions apply, as noted below) at home. Any guest possessing such items will be denied admission.
“As we prepare for Delran’s Freedom Fest, I want to thank everyone for helping make this a safe, family-friendly celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary,” said Mayor Barnes Hutchins. “We are expecting a great crowd, exciting entertainment, food, activities and a spectacular fireworks display. These event rules are in place to ensure that every resident and visitor can enjoy the day safely.
“We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to celebrating 250 years of American freedom together on June 27.”
Stemming from recent security updates at local fairs and festivals, the Delran Police Department wants to ensure that all attendees feel safe. The following guidelines are in place:
- Parental supervision: Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and be supervised for the duration of the event. Minors will be denied admission or removed if found to be unsupervised following their admission and they will not be permitted on buses without an adult.
- No backpacks: Backpacks and large bags are strictly prohibited. Smaller bags, and purses are subject to security search as a condition of admission prior to entry and anytime thereafter.
- No face coverings/concealment: Absent the submission of proof of a religious or medical necessity, face masks are strictly prohibited. If an attendee is wearing a hoodie, the hood must remain down at all times.
- Mandatory entrance: Everyone must enter through the designated entrance at the Community Park’s main gate. Admission will not be granted from any other location.
- Prohibited items: Alcohol, weapons, bikes, scooters, or dogs (except service animals) are strictly prohibited.
- Zero–tolerance policy: Altering, climbing or jumping any perimeter fence will result in removal from the park and/or possible criminal charges. Parents of minors may also be charged. The township also reserves the right to deny admission to anyone whose conduct poses a safety risk, disrupts the event or violates event rules.
- Search policy: Attendees must consent to a reasonable search of their person and property, with local law enforcement or security personnel authorized to do so. That includes the confiscation of prohibited items. All persons and bags are subject to search prior to entry.
“With that in mind, in light of all the recent events in Burlington County and throughout the state and country, we will be implementing several security features,” said Acting Police Chief Matthew J. Gasper. “The … police department – along with several outside agencies – will be there to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable night at our event. Please be respectful of everyone in attendance so that everyone can enjoy this wonderful event.”
Gasper was referring to several recent incidents in the state, including Maple Shade, at community events that resulted in violence, injury, vandalism and altercations with the police.
