April 15 – Tai Chi for Health – 4 p.m. Virtual. Registration required; Zoom link will be available before the event.

April 15 – Yoga for Kids – 4:15 p.m.

This 45 minute yoga class is designed for kids ages 6-8. The students will build strength, balance, and flexibility while promoting body awareness and self-confidence. The class includes breathwork, yoga poses, music, games, and relaxation and is presented in a fun and engaging way. 

This class features adaptations like lower lighting, small class size, a visual schedule, and fidget toys/tools and is accessible for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and special needs. We promise to offer a calm environment where every child feels nurtured and supported. 

Registration required. Please bring a mat or towel if possible (we also have some available to borrow).

This ESL class is for upper level beginner to lower level intermediate learners.  To register for free classes through NJ Literacy, please fill out an application on their website at https://literacynj.org/become-a-student/?county=Burlington, or text them at 609-388-1506.  They will contact you and place you in an appropriate class for your learning level.  This class is for adults only (18+).

April 15 – Virtual Book Chat: “Theo of Golden” – 7 p.m. on Zoom. Pick up a copy of the book at the information desk if registering. The book must be returned by Friday. Link will be available before the event.

April 15 – Tarot for Beginners – 7 p.m.

Are you interested in learning Tarot?  Come and get started on your Tarot journey with Tarot Instructor Joanne Scofield. These courses will cover the basics, and provide you with an introduction to the whole Tarot system.  We will be using the Rider Waite deck.  It is recommended that you have your own deck so you can practice at home, but there will be a few decks available for the class to use.

We are holding five of these classes – it is recommended that you attend all five for the most complete experience.  Registration required.

April 16 – Musical Series: “Cabaret” – 1 p.m.

April 16 – Music Discussion: The Songs of Dan Penn – 7 p.m. Virtual. Registration required; Zoom link will be available before the event.

April 17 – Knit & Crochet – 1 p.m.

Like to Knit or Crochet? Come and join this friendly group. Beginners to experts are welcome. Please bring your own materials. No registration required. 

April 18 – Coloring Club: Teen Leadership Program – 11 a.m.

Come on in and enjoy a relaxing coloring session. Make your own bookmarks, or just color freely. No registration required. This is a leadership project initiative. These sessions will be supervised by student volunteers. Please note that this does not suffice for adult supervision. Drop offs at the Library will not be permitted. 

April 18 – Integrated Pest Management for Home Gardens – 11 a.m.

Learn the basics of Integrated Pest Management with the goal of lessening the need of having to use pesticides and herbicides in residential landscapes and gardens. 

Instructor: from Rutgers Master Gardener Program of Burlington County.

No registration required.

April 18 – Book Club Meeting: “Before We Were Yours” – 1 p.m.

Please join us for a discussion of Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. This group meets every six weeks and the book for the next discussion will be passed out at this meeting, if you would like to borrow a copy. Newcomers are always welcome. The books discussed are also available from the library in eBook and audiobook form on Libby or Hoopla.

April 18 – Chess Club – 2 p.m.

Come play Chess at the library!  New and experienced players welcome.  We’ll provide chess boards, but feel free to bring your own if you like.  Registration not required.

April 19 – Foreign Film: “The Class” – 1 p.m.

Real-life mirrors screen life as teacher and author Francois Begaudeau plays someone similar to himself: A high school instructor attempting to get through to his class of multi-racial students in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Paris. While trying to maintain his dignity, Begaudeau must deal with problematical pupils and pessimistic faculty members. 128 min. 2008. In French with English subtitles. April 19 – Art Time – 2 p.m.

Miss Susan combines Art History, Literature, Science, and maybe even a little Math! Participants will be exposed to a variety of artists, mediums, and techniques. No experience or supplies necessary! This is a school-aged program for grades Kindergarten and up. A library card is required to register for this event.

April 20 – Move & Groove – 10:30 a.m.

Join us for this weekly event where we dance along to a playlist of our favorite songs and play with egg shakers, rhythm sticks, and more! Designed for ages 18 months – 5 years old, this program gives kids a chance to dance, sing, and get active! No registration required. 

April 20 – Silent Book Club – 6:30 p.m.

Are you looking for a cozy spot to read in companionable silence? Maybe a place to gather with other book lovers and find out what they’re reading? Guess what we have just the place, Mount Laurel Library is starting our own chapter of The Silent Book Club this summer. Every other Monday evening we will gather for 1.5 hours, the first half hour will be set aside to share what you’re reading or generally socialize, and the next hour will be for quiet reading.

We will provide a comfortable seating area and refreshments, just bring your own book or choose one from our collection, and join in.

April 21 – Kids Art Workshop – 4 p.m.

In this art workshop, created specifically for tweens, aged 8-12 we will turn to American artist Wayne Thiebaud (1920-2021) for inspiration. We will learn about his super fun and iconic paintings of sweet treats and create a unique sculpture using model magic air dry clay and paper.
