The school district is launching a strategic planning process that will complement the facilities projects approved in a 2025 bond referendum.

The district aims to develop a three-year plan that will set goals around academic programs, curriculum, community engagement, budget priorities and technology in the schools. The district formed its last strategic plan in 2019.

The community can take part in the planning process through in-person sessions at the William Allen Middle School on Wednesday, April 29, and Tuesday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m.; and Thursday, May 7, at 9:30 a.m. Registration is not required but participants are advised to bring a notebook or related item on which they can write.

“We are continuing the momentum of last year’s referendum to expand and improve our learning spaces,” said Superintendent Dr. Courtney McNeely. “As we did during that important process, we will ask the community to participate in developing our strategic plan.

“Our goal is to build on our legacy of excellence by continuing to provide high-quality education and services.”

The district is working with consultant Dr. Tracey Severns of Teach4Results to guide the planning. She will lead community forums and separate sessions for students and staff that began earlier this month. Students in grades three to 12 will be asked to share what creates a sense of belonging for them and how they like to learn.

To make participation accessible for the whole community and help finalize the plan, the district is gathering feedback through an online survey where respondents can share thoughts about what the schools do well and ways to improve and grow. The finalized plan, with goals and action steps, will be shared with the community.
