See you on the creek.

In a message on the township’s website and social media page, Mayor Michael Czyzyk announced that the canoe launch at Coates Street has been fully repaired and upgraded, making it easier than ever to get out and enjoy the beauty of the Rancocas Creek.

“This project was made possible through funding from the 2024 Local Recreation Improvement Grant awarded by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs,” Czyzyk shared.

The grant is a competitive award that supports improvement and repair of public-school recreational facilities, including local parks; municipal recreation centers; and local stadiums, according to the state Department of Community Affairs.

“With the help of Capella Construction, obstructions along the Medford Canoe Trail have successfully been removed, improving safety and accessibility for all paddlers,” Czyzyk noted. “Decker’s has done a fabulous job with the repairs and improvements to the Canoe Launch.

“Whether you’re a seasoned kayaker or just looking for a peaceful day on the water, we invite you to come experience the improved launch and scenic waterway.”

Medford Canoe Trail is two-and-a-half miles along the southwest branch of the Rancocas Creek. It has access from Medford Park off of Gill Road, Coates Street and Kirby’s Mill on Church Road.

Canoe rack rentals are available on an annual basis at the Coates Street Landing.

At normal water levels, the canoe launch offers a relaxing one-hour trip through greenery of native vegetation and beautiful waters, according to the New Jersey Audubon Society.
