Third graders at Whitehall Elementary in Monroe Township celebrated Women’s History Month in March with a project that brought stories of their teachers to life. Each student selected a teacher who inspired them.

The students then arranged and conducted a thoughtful interview and transformed what they learned into a written profile that highlighted the teacher’s experiences, values and memorable moments. To deepen their connection and add a personal touch, students then created self-portraits that reflected how the teacher’s example had influenced their own interests and goals.

“This long-standing Whitehall tradition blends curiosity, communication and creativity,” said Gina Dolores, a basic skills instructor at the school, “and it remains one of the students’ favorite projects of the year.”
