The Delran Green Team has partnered with Fernbrook Nursery to help residents plant trees on their property. The team has selected trees suitable for its growing zone.

Large shade trees include red maple, sugar maple, hackberry, beech, and white oak. Medium shade trees include Queen Elizabeth maple, Allegany serviceberry, and flowering cherry. Flowering trees include Milky Way Kousa dogwood, Kousa dogwood celestial shadow, magnolia, Eastern redbud, hydrangea, Japanese snowbell, and hibiscus. Upright/narrow trees include pink oak, hornbeam, and Armstrong red maple. Evergreens include arborvitae and Japanese holly. And fruit trees include red delicious apple, yellow delicious apple, peach, and pear.

Most of the trees are 2 to 2.5 inches in diameter, and balled and burlap ranging in price from $175 to $385. This is the size trees the team purchases to plant in township parks. Trees that are less than $385 are smaller potted trees. Property owners will select the species and location and Fernbrook does the rest. Trees will be planted in late May and early June.

Members of the Delran Green Team can help pick the right tree. Orders are due by April 15. For more information, visit https://delrantownship.org/residential-tree-planting=program/
