A primary goal this year is to bring another restaurant to our community by way of a plenary retail consumption liquor license.
Residents have expressed the need for another restaurant with a liquor license here and we couldn’t agree more with this sentiment. The additional revenue generated by this sale would also help offset local property taxes.

We are saddened to announce that Dr. Robert (Bob) W. Harris passed away at 72 on Sept. 15 at his home in Mantua surrounded by family. Dr. Harris was a 43-year resident of Mantua and served our community with extreme passion and integrity for 35 years, cumulatively on the planning and Land Use boards. He was the LUB chairman until the progression of his illness forced him to resign earlier this year.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Dorothy and his two children, Kyle and Sarah, along with the entire Harris family. Dr. Harris loved our community and always had Mantua’s best interests at heart. Our sincerest condolences and profound sympathies go to his family at home, and to all who knew and loved him throughout our community and beyond.
Our pre-K to 6 grade school district recently kicked off its campaign for a special bond referendum election on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The election is for the voters to consider approving $39.1 million for construction and renovations to the district’s three schools. Of that, $29.2 million would be the responsibility of the local taxpayer, $8.9 million would be covered by state aid and $1 million would be covered by a capital contribution.
We wholeheartedly support our local school district. Our children benefit by an exemplary public school system in Mantua. This is one of the main reasons it is in such great demand as a place to live, and why property values have been soaring.
We encourage you to do your due diligence and educate yourselves on the school district’s wants and needs, along with the tax implications, before casting your vote on Dec. 9. You can obtain information on the proposed project at the Mantua school district website at mantuaschools.com/referendum2025/home.
Questions or concerns regarding the referendum should be emailed to the school district at referendum2025@mantuaschools.com.
