Excitement is brewing for this year’s Delran Night Out.
“We worked very hard to provide something for everyone,” Mayor Barnes Hutchins said, noting most of the night’s festivities have been sponsored by community donations and sponsorships. “We are really excited.”
And as Delran Night Out nears on Tuesday, Aug. 5, the township’s Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC), made up of a volunteers, is finalizing who, what, where, when, why and how.
Chairperson Tina Buckley is leading charge with co-chair Steve Grello. Melissa Larkin, the township’s licensing clerk, serves as secretary; Samantha Hutchins is the fundraising coordinator; Alexa Bogan is the social media coordinator; Chris Pullion oversees fields and recreation; and Tom Morrow, serves as council liaison. Other members include Trish Griffith, Jim Hatzold, Bob Kennedy, and Rachel Gray.
Kim Bogie, secretary of the mayor and business administrator, has also been instrumental in coordinating the night’s efforts. To kick things off at 6 p.m. at Delran Community Park will be the winners of the township’s first 08075 Can Sing, chosen at Dooney’s Pub in May. Participants were scored on vocals, stage presence, costume and audience appreciation.
Moorestown resident Chase Mailhiot, 12, came out on top, and two runners-up, Nathalia Teixeira, 17, and Nygel Wells, 25, were second and third, respectively. Teixeira and Wells, both township residents, will perform one song each on Aug. 5 and Mailhiot will perform a 20-minute set.
The night will include the headline act of Winslow: An Evening with the Eagles and also feature Lights Out: A Tribute to Frankie Valli. There will be food trucks, inflatables, a casino tent, game trucks, police, fire, EMS, face painters, balloon artists, a magician and a fireworks extravaganza.
There will be shuttle buses for pickup and dropoff at designated parking areas:
- Resurrection Parish, 260 Conrow Road
- Delran Municipal Building, 900 Chester Ave.
- Summer Hill – Sports field parking lot
- Millbridge Elementary School, 282 Conrow Road
- Handicapped parking in the Castaway Cannabis parking lot
