Man dies in fire

A 61-year-old man died in a structure fire on Wednesday, April 23.

The Cinnaminson Fire Department and partnering agencies responded to the 600 Block of S. Pompess Ave. in the East Riverton section of Cinnaminson Township at 12:30 p.m., according to a release through Fire Chief Philip Drangula of the Cinnaminson Fire Department.

Crews were advised that there was a victim trapped on the second-floor structure. Upon arrival the initial crews encountered significant fire conditions. Due to the report of a victim trapped crews immediately attempted search and rescue efforts.

“Unfortunately, those efforts were not successful,” Drangula said. “A 61-year-old male perished in the fire. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the family.”

The cause of fire is currently under investigation by the Cinnaminson Fire Marshal’s office, Cinnaminson Police Department, Burlington County Fire Marshals office and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s office.
