Be aware and informed of township crimes

Moorestown police have stepped up efforts to combat crime in the township this year, especially overnight theft, by increasing protection during those hours. All platoons have increased by one officer and an additional officer is on hand during the overnight hours to provide additional coverage.

Some patrols will be in unmarked cars, so officers may be on scene before residents are aware of their presence. Council also recently authorized the purchase of a highly sophisticated drone that includes infrared sensing and spotlight capabilities and will enable air patrols.

Police say thieves often arrive in town already knowing the addresses of potential targets, and the state police has a task force to help identify them. There have been periodic reminders to residents about ongoing criminal activity and the township now posts on social media each month a report from police that includes a representative sample of crimes during that period.
