Rock/folk singer-songwriter Wesley Stace has released more than a dozen albums and written four novels. He is a native of England.
The Moorestown Music Collective welcomed musician Wesley Stace back to the Music on Main concert series for his second show at the Community House of Moorestown on Oct. 10.
The rock/folk singer-songwriter was born in England in 1965. He released 17 albums under the name John Wesley Harding before switching back to his birth name for more recent recordings, including 2021’s “Late Style.” He has been joined onstage during his career by Bruce Springsteen; Lou Reed; Iggy Pop; John Prine; and Rosanne Cash, among others.
Stace has also published four novels, including the international bestseller “Misfortune.” He also created “Cabinet of Wonders,” a monthly show at New York’s City Winery that The New Yorker called “one of the finest nights of entertainment this city has to offer,” according to Stace’s biography. He has also been working on “The Secret Series,” a complete reappraisal of his entire musical career with new solo acoustic recordings and a book to accompany each release. It gathers Stace’s lyrics for the first time in a uniform edition.
“ … What’s been really good about it is that, now (that) I’m on tour, there are plenty of my songs that are new to me, slightly changed around and they feel like new songs basically because I’ve worked hard to make them into a good, solo acoustic version,” Stace said at the Community House show.
“The Secret Series” features 12 albums, 12 books and 155 songs, and there will be 250 copies of each book. They and his recordings will be revealed and released over the next two to three years. The following albums are being – or have already been – re-recorded for “The Secret Series”: “Here Comes the Groom,” “Why We Fight,” “John Wesley Harding’s New Deal” and “Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead.”
