Festivals, parades and fall fun are back in Williamstown this September and October.
Every year, Monroe Township hosts a few free fall and Halloween events for the community to enjoy. Below are a few fall happenings you will not want to miss this season.
Main Street Arts & Craft Festival: Saturday, September 12, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The annual festival is one of the town’s most-anticipated events of the year. Monroe Township Community Affairs is expected to host more than 300 vendors, and they all will be lined down Main Street. There will be local crafters and artisans, small businesses, food trucks, local resource tables, music, and child-friendly activities like balloon art, face painting and bounce houses. There is fun for the whole family, including the dogs!
Parking will be available at Pfeiffer Center, Newfield Bank, United Methodist Church, Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home and along side streets.
Melodies on Main: Thursday, September 17, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
The final Melodies on Main of the season! Spend the night strolling Main Street surrounded by the community. Local vendors, food, drinks and family-friendly activities will be set up.
Scarecrows on Main Street: Set-up runs Sunday, September 20 – Saturday, October 3
Monroe Township Community Affairs’s annual scarecrow competition is back. Between September 20 and October 3, those who sign up to make an original scarecrow will be assigned a time and location to set it up on Main Street. After all the scarecrows are completed, a public voting link on Facebook will be sent out to the community. Winners of the three categories (Most Creative, People’s Choice and Funniest) will be announced at the annual Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 17 and posted on Facebook.
Williamstown Fire Company Building Dedication: Saturday, September 26, 1 p.m. – 10 p.m.
The fire company recently moved back into its Station 1 on Main Street after it underwent an entire deconstruction and redevelopment for nearly two years. To celebrate the new chapter of the fire company, the community is invited to spend the day with the fire company and explore the new station. A parade featuring fire trucks from Williamstown and other towns will kick off at 1 p.m., with a ceremony to follow. Food, a beer and soda garden, family-friendly activities, live music and a 50/50 raffle will also be at the event. Check out our story in this issue to learn more about the new station!
Adults with Disabilities Halloween Dance: Friday, October 9, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Another dance for adults 17 and older with disabilities will be held in Pfeiffer Community Center. This time, it is all-things Halloween-themed. Attendees are encouraged (not required) to dress up in a Halloween costume. Light refreshments and music for dancing provided.
Fall Festival & Family Pumpkin Carving Contest: Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Monroe Township Parks & Recreation’s annual fall festival will fill Owens Park with plenty of fall fun, like hay rides, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, games and plenty more.
Plus, the 2nd Annual Family Pumpkin Carving Contest will occur at the festival. Any individuals or families looking to compete should carve and complete their pumpkin prior to the event and drop it off at the festival by 10 a.m. for it to be entered into the contest. Festival attendees will vote on the pumpkins throughout the event, and the winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m. The winning pumpkin will sit on the judge’s stand during the Halloween Parade later that evening, as well.
Halloween Parade: Saturday, October 17, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Only a few hours after the Fall Festival is the annual Halloween Parade. The parade steps off at 7 p.m. at the CVS on Main Street, and it will go all the way down to Church Street. Last year, there were more than 70 parade participants. Keep an eye out for Monroe Township’s police, EMS and both fire departments, a variety of marching and string bands, and decked out floats. There will be judges giving out awards to some of the best parade participants. The parade will also be live-streamed.
Trunk or Treat: Friday, October 23, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Decked out cars and vehicles will line the Pfeiffer Community Center parking lot for Monroe Township Community Affairs’s annual Trunk or Treat. Each vehicle will give out unopened candy and goodies to trunk-or-treaters. Come dressed up and remember a bag, basket or pillowcase!
Howl-O-Ween Puppy Parade: Saturday, October 24, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The cutest event of the year! Monroe Township Community Affairs invites all dog owners to dress up their pups and register them for the annual parade. And humans are encouraged to dress up, too! Awards for costumes (including group costumes with the dog’s family) will be voted on and announced. Head to Monroe Township Rich DiLucia Dog Park to witness the fun.
