An adult creative writing group looking for fun, creative, artistic writers who find it hard to stay motivated to write. Join us as we encourage each other in maintaining a writing schedule with the goal of using writing as a tool of empowerment, healing & personal discovery. Weekly Chair Functional Stretch sessions are available on Thursdays at 11:30am from April 9th through April 30th here at the Monroe Township Library. Certified teachers from Relax Mind & Body located at 621 S. Main Street in Williamstown will be here offering Chair Functional Stretch Classes. Chair functional stretches are exercises that can be done while seated in a chair to improve flexibility, mobility and circulation. These stretches can be beneficial for people of all ages and fitness levels, and they are particularly useful for those who spend a lot of time sitting or have limited mobility. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Two books. One author. Join us as South Jersey author, Nicole Smith-Schultz reads her books and shares what inspired her stories. These stories are perfect for families with children ages 3 to 6. Meet other homeschoolers in the community while enjoying family-friendly activities. Each session will focus on different hands-on activities, such as arts & crafts, STEM, games, and more. Teens (ages 12-18) are invited to come hangout with other homeschoolers in the community!  This program will meet once a month (usually the 1st Monday of the month) for homeschooled teens to enjoy varying family-friendly activities that encourage learning, discussion, and socialization.

Got a small project you’re working on? Bring it with! Not working on anything right now? Then come for the snacks!

The Friends of the Monroe Township Library will be holding a meeting to discuss fundraising. 

Want to volunteer your time and ideas to the Friends? The Friends of the Monroe Township Library invite you to become an active volunteer. The Friends raise money through fundraising to offer financial support for various library programs. The Friends also promote awareness of the Library and the services offered to the community. Please join the Friends in this effort and enjoy the good feeling that comes with helping the library to continue to enrich the lives of all residents in our community.

Are you interested in diving into the world of tabletop RPGs, but not sure where to start? A Dungeon Master with over 30 years of experience, and his assistant, will be teaching all of the skills needed to make and play characters in the amazing fantasy setting of Pathfinder. Everything will be provided including character sheets and print-outs of sections of the core book. If you are comfortable with technology, bring your preferred devices to create and save your characters electronically as well as access free dice rolling apps. At minimum, all you need is a pencil and your imagination!

The Bookworms Book Club is a reading group for adults that meets at 1:00 on the third Wednesday of each month. All are welcome to read along with us and attend our discussions in the library meeting room. No registration is required.

American Bandstand by John A. Jackson

“I don’t make culture, I sell it” Dick Clark once remarked. Indeed, the man who reigned as host of American Bandstand for nearly four decades may not have invented rock ‘n’ roll, but he sold it to the American public better than anyone before or since. Before Clark, rock ‘n’ roll was the step child of radio–which took to playing records as a cost-saving measure after television siphoned off radios most lucrative sponsors. But it was network television–and specifically Clarks Bandstand–that ultimately legitimized what was then viewed by most adults as vulgar, low-class music, broadcasting a sanitized vision of rock ‘n’ roll straight into Americas living rooms five afternoons a week. Here is the first book to tell the full story of what happened in front of–and behind–the cameras on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, providing both a history of this landmark show and of the changing styles of rock ‘n’ roll over four decades.

All levels of experience are welcome. This is not a class, however sharing of tips and experience is encouraged. Registration not required.
