Wednesday, Jan. 22

Monroe Township special public hearing meeting on state Green Acres Program for improvements at Earl E. Owens Memorial Park, 690 North Tuckahoe Road. Meeting is at 6 pm. in council chambers, 125 Virginia Ave.

By Monday, Jan. 27

There is presently a vacancy on the Monroe Township Board of Education. Anyone interested may mail a letter of interest to Lisa Schulz, Board Secretary, Monroe Township Board of Education, 128 Saybrook Avenue, Williamstown, NJ 08094 or email to lschulz2@monroetwp.k12.nj.us no later than 3 p.m. on Jan. 27. Contact information including address and phone number is required. Residency is required. Inclusion of a resume is strongly encouraged. The Board of Education will conduct the search, screening, and selection for the replacement. The candidate will be notified if selected for an interview.

In January

Monroe Township is recycling bare Christmas trees that will be collected curbside on trash and recycling collection day. Flocked trees or trees with tinsel, garland, lights etc. will be picked up on designated bulk pick-up day. For Monday and Thursday collection day, bulk pick up will be Jan. 17 and for Tuesday and Wednesday collection day, bulk pick-up days will be Jan. 10 and 24.   

Happenings around Gloucester County

The South Jersey Museum of American History is located at 138 Andaloro Way. Open from Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call (856) 812-1121, email sjmuseum@aol.com and visit southjerseymuseum.org.

Through Feb. 2, 2025 – The museum will feature O and O-27 gauge toy trains from the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. Lionel, Marx and American Flyer engines, with adjoining cars, will race on two diverse platforms. Vintage Plasticville buildings from the 1950’s will further augment the display. Vegetation and auxiliary structures will give the platforms a traditional holiday appearance.

NJ Motor Vehicle Commission Mobile Unit

The 4th Legislative District will be hosting the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission Mobile Unit at their Washington Township office, 129 Johnson Road, Suite 1, Turnersville from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Feb. 3-7. Any questions contact (856) 232-6700.

Monroe Township Police Explorers

Meetings first and third Monday each month at 7 p.m., Monroe Township police headquarters. Open to those ages 14-21. Learn career-based skills designed to educate and prepare for a career in law enforcement or criminal justice.
