The South Jersey Museum of American History is located at 138 Andaloro Way in Deptford. The museum’s permanent exhibits include artifacts from the Pre-Columbian through the Colonial Eras, American Farmstead, Antique hand tools and equipment, the Pine Barrens, Glass and a Fossil exhibit.

The museum is currently holding its 23rd Annual Antique Toy Train Show, which will run through Feb. 1. The train show will feature O and O-27 gauge toy trains from the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. Lionel, Marx and American Flyer engines, with adjoining cars, will race against each other on two diverse platforms. Vintage Plasticville buildings from the 1950’s will further augment the display. Vegetation and auxiliary structures will give the platforms a traditional holiday appearance.

Serve-A-Tray program, which is for seniors 60 or older, is more than just a meal delivery – it’s about maintaining health, independence, and dignity for homebound seniors in the community. Participants receive a complete midday meal Monday through Friday, with frozen meals available for weekends. For more information call (856) 686-8325.

Blood Drives

The American Red Cross urges donors to make an appointment to give blood or platelets now to keep the blood supply into 2026. Types O, A negative and B negative blood donors are especially needed now.

The Red Cross is also teaming up with Pro Football Champion and blood donor Saquon Barkley to urge donors to make appointments now to help save lives this winter. Photos featuring Barkley giving lifesaving blood are available.

If you’re unable to give blood or platelets, consider making a financial donation to support the organization’s lifesaving mission at redcross.org.

For the month of January, the Public Works Department will be collecting live Christmas Trees at the curb for disposal they day after your normal trash collection (weather permitting). Contact Public Works with any questions at 856-589-0523.

Washington Township uses the Everbridge notification system to notify residents of important community information such as weather emergencies nd changes to municipal services. The Washington Township Veterans Wall of Honor is accepting applications. Please note that eligibility to have a plaque on the Wall is: a Veteran who is a resident of Washington Township at the time of entrance into the military, a current resident, a member of a current resident’s immediate family (parent, spouse, sibling, or child). Kindly include the Veteran’s DD 214 and submit a 5×7 photo, preferably in uniform. Applications are available in the Municipal Building. License Your Furry Friend. Licensing your dog is not just a state requirement, but it also helps reunite lost pets with their owners and supports local animal services. The licenses expire Jan. 31 of each year.

The Washington Saves Lives Program is available for residents to use seven days a week between the hours 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. for a free ride from any bar or restaurant located within the township to their home. If you or if you know someone that may benefit from this program, please download the Uber application and use it during the designated hours.

The Washington Township Fire Department is accepting applications for volunteer firefighter. Become part of a progressive organization with the most up-to-date firefighting and rescue technology in the area. The Washington Township Ambulance and Rescue Association is currently seeking applicants for the position of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Full and Part-Time positions available. The Washington Township Police Department is participating in the new Special Needs Registry and Blue Envelope Program sponsored by the Gloucester County Police Chief’s Association and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office. The registry gives police quick access in an emergency to critical information about a person who is registered. Individuals will also get a blue window decal as well as a blue envelope for their vehicle. These items let the police know that the occupants have a physical or mental condition that may not be apparent to the officer on scene.
