Sept. 11 – Gloucester County Health Department is offering free training to those residents served by a septic system. Septic System 101 for Homeowners will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at Rowan College – South Jersey Room MEC 1202, 1400 Tanyard Road, Sewell, on Sept. 11. The South Jersey Museum of American History is located at 138 Andaloro Way. “Led by Love” Family Caregiver Support Group meetings are held monthly throughout the year from 9 a.m. to noon at 115 Budd Blvd., West Deptford. Dates include Sept. 17, Oct. 15, and Nov. 19.
Serve-A-Tray program, which is for seniors 60 or older, is more than just a meal delivery – it’s about maintaining health, independence, and dignity for homebound seniors in the community. Virtua Health is seeking community members to participate in a focus group exploring ways to make healthcare more accessible and equitable at 9:30 a.m. at the Palmyra Community Center, 30 W. Broad Street. The meeting will be held for approximately two hours. They are looking for adults 18-plus living in Southern New Jersey and individuals who have faced barriers to accessing healthcare and want to share their perspective. The 24th annual Ride to Remember will be held at Washington Township High School in honor of township Police Cpl. Steve Levy, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is hosted by the Gloucester County Hero Scholarship Fund. The ride is organized to commemorate those men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities we have sworn to protect. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and kickstands up at 10 a.m.

The Washington Township Veterans Wall of Honor is accepting applications. Please note that eligibility to have a plaque on the Wall is: a Veteran who is a resident of Washington Township at the time of entrance into the military, a current resident, a member of a current resident’s immediate family (parent, spouse, sibling, or child). License Your Furry Friend. Licensing your dog is not just a state requirement, but it also helps reunite lost pets with their owners and supports local animal services. The licenses expire Jan. 31 of each year.

The Washington Township Police Department is participating in the new Special Needs Registry and Blue Envelope Program sponsored by the Gloucester County Police Chief’s Association and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office. The registry gives police quick access in an emergency to critical information about a person who is registered. Individuals will also get a blue window decal as well as a blue envelope for their vehicle. These items let the police know that the occupants have a physical or mental condition that may not be apparent to the officer on scene.
