Two residents from the Grenloch section of the township were charged with criminal mischief for allegedly drawing graffiti on street signs and playground equipment in Grenloch Lake Park.

One juvenile male and an adult female were also charged with destruction of property, a third- and fourth-degree crime, said police, who were dispatched to the neighborhood on Oct. 8. It was reported that up to six individuals were involved.

Besides the playground graffiti, officers discovered spray paint on stop signs and a police radar sign. The Grenloch Presbyterian Church sign was defaced with an anarchy symbol and several signs were spray-painted with the phrase “F-12,” a derogatory anti-police term. Also hit was the Grenloch Lake “Ronald David Heck Memorial Park” sign.

The total damage is estimated to exceed $2,000, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Det. Anthony Aquilino at AAquilino@pd.twp.washington.nj.us.
