A 24-year-old township man was arrested and charged last month with possession and distribution of child sexual abuse or exploitation materials (CSAEM), according to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns.

Stephen Goffredo was charged by criminal complaint with endangering the welfare of a child, distribution of CSAEM, a second-degree crime; and endangering the welfare of a child-possession of CSAEM, a second-degree offense. He is scheduled to have a pre-indictment conference in New Jersey Superior Court on Sept. 11, according to a press release from the prosecutor.

Detectives from the prosecutor’s High Tech Crimes Unit and the township police department executed a search warrant on July 15 at Goffredo’s residence, after the review of media accounts that contained CSAEM traced back to Goffredo. The search turned up multiple electronic devices allegedly belonging to him, including a device of the same make and model linked to the accounts.

Goffredo also gave a statement to detectives allegedly admitting he received CSAEM over media platforms. He was processed and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.

The maximum term for a second-degree crime is 10 years; the maximum fine is $150,000.
