Holmes brings more than two decades of educational leadership experience to her new role, including service as a principal, supervisor and teacher in the township. She is currently the principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School and previously led Birches and Hurffville elementary schools. Prior to her leadership roles, she was the district’s supervisor of special education.

Holmes’ leadership experience spans elementary and secondary levels and includes curriculum development, program oversight, staff supervision, budgeting, safety initiatives, Title I programming and student support systems. Throughout her career, she’s demonstrated a strong commitment to instructional excellence, professional learning, school climate, and data-informed decision-making.

Holmes has also led school improvement initiatives, collaborated with district departments to strengthen operations and safety protocols, and worked closely with staff and families to ensure positive outcomes for students.

“Tricia is a respected leader who understands our district, our community, and our instructional priorities,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Hibbs. “Her experience across special education, building leadership and district supervision uniquely positions her to lead curriculum and instruction at a system-wide level.

“She is thoughtful, collaborative and deeply committed to student success.”

Holmes has a master’s degree in learning disabilities from Rowan University and maintains state certifications as a school administrator, principal and supervisor. She began her career as a Washington Township High School special education teacher, serving for 17 years before moving into district-level leadership.

In her new role, Holmes will oversee curriculum development, instructional programming, professional development, assessment systems and strategic academic initiatives and will work with building leaders and supervisors to ensure coherent, rigorous and innovative learning experiences for all students, according to the district.

She expressed appreciation for the opportunity.

“I am honored to continue serving Washington Township in this role,” she noted. “I look forward to working alongside our talented educators and leaders to strengthen instructional practices, support student achievement and build on the strong foundation already in place.”
