For more than 20 years, the Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club has been committed to serving our town, the South Jersey area and the world.
Its members meet weekly on Thursday mornings to plan projects and activities that help meet community needs and solve problems.
Rotary International is the oldest charitable service organization in the world and addresses such issues as hunger and child mortality. There are more than 1.2 million Rotarians all over the world, with more than 35,000 clubs in more than 200 countries.
The Rotary Foundation is one of the world’s largest and has consistently had one of the highest ratings in Charity Navigator. Since the 1980s, the foundation and volunteers worldwide have spearheaded the effort to eradicate polio.
In partnership with Hope Church and the Cathedral Kitchen, Voorhees Rotarians are helping those in our area who need food. They regularly prepare meals for hospitalized children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House in Camden. In our grade schools, they purchase and organize the delivery of healthy snacks, so our children’s learning is not impaired.
The Rotary members also support the efforts of the Josh the Otter Water Safety Project to help prevent child drownings, a leading cause of deaths among youngsters.
The township club’s members come from all walks of life and range in age from 39 to 93. They are a diverse, energetic and fun group that includes two past Rotary District Governors and two current Assistant Governors helping to lead the Rotary District (7505) that covers South and mostly Central New Jersey.
The club meets every Thursday at 7:30 a.m., alternating between online Zoom meetings to in-person sessions at the Stratford Diner on White Horse Pike. It personifies the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
Property tax relief
Voorhees is hosting a property tax relief filing event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Lions Lake Community Center. Those who receive Social Security Disability benefits are invited to meet with a tax division representative for help with filing applications for the Senior Freeze, Anchor and Stay NJ Programs.
The session will focus on the blue 2025 Form PAS-1 booklet received by mail. Please bring the following items: photo ID, Social Security number, income documentation and property tax totals billed for both 2024 and 2025. No appointments are necessary for the first-come, first-served event and you do not need to be a Voorhees resident.

Summer shows
Our Thursday summer concert series continues on Aug. 20 with a performance by the FM Band, known for its mix of classic rock favorites, nostalgic throwbacks and today’s biggest hits. Their versatile repertoire and engaging stage presence have made them a favorite throughout the area music scene.
Summer hours for town hall will be in effect until Tuesday, Sept. 8 from Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The office will be closed on Fridays.
