The Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club has announced the 2025 recipients of its annual community service awards, four people whose work embodies the organization’s long-standing motto of “Service Above Self.”
The honorees – Stephanie Fowler, George Devakos, Charli Aumiller and Robert Cranmer – will be recognized for helping improve the lives of people both within the township and beyond.
Fowler has been named Voorhees citizen of the year for her service and community impact. Devakos is the township’s first responder of the year, recognized for his commitment to protecting and supporting residents. Eastern High School’s Aumiller is the Voorhees selfless student of the year, cited for leadership and acts of kindness that have uplifted peers.
The service above self award, one of the Rotary’s highest honors, goes to Cranmer for his extensive volunteer efforts and dedication to helping others.
The Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club has celebrated community members who work quietly and tirelessly to make a difference for 17 years. Club member Susan Bromley said the awards were created to spotlight individuals who rarely seek attention for their contributions.
“Through the Rotary Club’s community outreach, we encounter countless individuals who are dedicated to improving the lives of those around them but seek no recognition for themselves,” she noted. “It is these ‘unsung heroes’ that we hope to celebrate.”
Bromley said this year’s recipients exemplify the Rotary’s mission through unique contributions.
“This year’s award winners have touched our community by helping ease food insecurity, responding to emergencies, overcoming learning challenges and bringing joy and relief to struggling families,” she explained.
“A common theme among the recipients is their heartfelt belief that they receive far more from serving others than they could ever give.”
The honorees will be celebrated during the Voorhees community service awards dinner on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at Lucien’s Distinguished Catering in Berlin. The evening will include a sit-down dinner, wine and beer.
Tickets are $95 per person or $735 for a table of eight. Reservations can be made by sending payment to the Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club, 601 White Horse Road, 08043. Credit cards and PayPal are also accepted.
Individuals and organizations can show support through program ads – ranging from $100 to $300 – with requests due by Dec. 31. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Call event chair Nick Colanzi at (856) 435-6200 for more information.
Bromley believes the awards are more than just a celebration, but a meaningful community tradition.
“The awards dinner is a fabulous evening that brings together community members,” she said. “Attendees are guaranteed to be inspired as the award recipients share the stories behind their community service and what motivates them to keep making a difference.”
Proceeds from the event will support the Rotary’s local and international service projects.
