Evesham police officer Kevin Long was recently recognized by the Burlington County 200 Club for responding to a residential fire and rescuing a paraplegic in June.
Long discovered at the fire scene that a male resident trapped inside the burning home was a paraplegic. Under extreme conditions and with zero visibility due to smoke, Long made the rescue by first removing the resident’s wheelchair, then carrying him outside to safety. Long suffered smoke inhalation that was treated at a nearby hospital.
The club was joined in honoring Long by acting township Police Chief Tom Reinholt, Mayor Jaclyn Veasy and members of the police department command staff.
