Jewish Federation To Show Documentary at The Levoy

From the clutch of a tyrannical czar in 1882 to the sandy soils of southern New Jersey, 43 Jewish families escaped Russian persecution to form a cooperative agricultural-based community. The documentary film, Alliance, recounts the foundational history of Alliance Colony, the first successful Jewish farming community in the United States.

Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties with CU Maurice River will host the showing of  Alliance on Wednesday, December 4 at 6 p.m. at The  Levoy in Millville. Tickets are $8 per person in advance, $12 at the door. Call 856-696-4445 for tickets.

The film will be followed by a moderated panel discussion and Q&A with Susan Donnelly, Alliance director, and Jay Greenblatt, Alliance Colony Foundation founder and president. Other panel speakers include Tom Kinsella, director of Stockton University’s Alliance Heritage Center and Nachum Helig, an Alliance descendant.
