Several health care networks in New Jersey have updated their masking policies for staff, patients and visitors as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports the levels of acute respiratory illness in the Garden State as high. In fact, most of the country is experiencing moderate to very high levels, as of January 1, the latest available data suggests.

“We are continuously monitoring and evaluating the positivity rate of respiratory viruses in our immediate and surrounding areas. As such, as of January 8, 2025, masks are required for staff and strongly encouraged for patients and visitors in high-risk clinical areas,” an Inspira representative told NJBIZ, noting that hospital officials will continue to monitor the data “and revisit the policy as conditions evolve.”

Inspira Health also encourages community members to “practice good hand hygiene, stay up-to-date on flu and COVID vaccinations” and wear “a mask if experiencing respiratory symptoms.”
